It’s that time again – Eurochocolate is back in town! The annual celebration of all things chocolate has taken over Perugia’s historic center, filling it with music, throngs of happy people, and of course, delicious desserts! This year’s theme is “Tutta Un’Altra Musica,” an Italian expression equivalent to “a whole different story,” which has inspired such confections as chocolate headphones and a massive chocolate piano “played” by stepping on giant keys.
Before you start exploring, pick up a Chococard at the Chococard Points in front of Caffè Vannucci on Corso Vannucci and in Piazza Italia – you get a free chocolate bar and pair of headphones with purchase, as well as discounts for the duration of the festival. Now, where to find your favorite so-bad-for-you-but-so-good treats? Check out the churros across the street from the Coop, chocolate sculpture carving and the aforementioned piano in Piazza IV Novembre, Baci Perugina in front of the Museo Archeologico, and hot chocolate and Nutella stands by Max Mara.
For a complete list of events, including tastings, talks, and cooking demonstrations, visit the official Eurochocolate website. The festival began on Friday, October 13th and continues until the 22nd.
And don’t forget to pick up a few bars of chocolate for everyone at home – they make great gifts if you can manage not to eat them before the end of the semester!
