I try to let students realize that works of art (film and more) can speak deeply about the culture they are experiencing while studying abroad and about themselves too.
About Teaching at Umbra
I always encourage students to get as involved as much as possible in the Italian environment and shed the habit of being a foreign observer of the local culture.
Umbra provides a very stimulating learning environment, with a lively intellectual cooperation between students and instructors. It is most rewarding when my students become fully interested in film discussions with no need of special effects.
