Spring 16 Ambassador
I have had such an amazing time studying at Umbra from interesting classes and great professors to its location in Perugia. The classes are hands on and being able to visit the places and see what you’re learning about adds so much to the learning experience. I am taking History of Roman Civilization, History of Art, Architecture, and Culture in Fascist Italy, Racconto Italiano, Photography, and have an internship in two museums in Perugia. I also volunteer on Mondays at a local elementary school teaching english. Through my classes and travels I have learned so much more about Italian history, life, and culture than I could have gotten at my home university. If you’re looking to learn or improve you Italian Perugia is the perfect location. Because it is not as touristy as other larger cities, there are more opportunities to speak Italian with locals who are extremely friendly and will help you speak. Even though Perugia is a smaller city there is always something going on. There are two other universities in the city and students from all over the world to meet and get to know. If you end up coming to Perugia take advantage of your time here, get involved in the community, and find a spot to call your own.
