Fall 15 Ambassador

Ciao a tutti! My name is Sarah, and it’s an honor to be an Umbra Ambassador, both to stay connected to the Umbra Community and to help others who might have the same questions as I did about study abroad.
At Umbra, I chose to take classes I never would have had the chance to take at home. I challenged myself to learn about Italy’s food culture and the politics of the EU and to conduct my own research through an “Advanced Research Project.” I also enjoyed teaching English to elementary school students while at Umbra and participating in the many cultural activities.
My favorite moment during my semester was when my friend and I were finally almost home to Perugia after a stressful weekend of traveling. As I closed my eyes on the train and thought, “I can’t wait to be home (meaning Perugia),” I realized how much I loved this city. I realized how involved we had become in the community, how welcomed we were made to feel, and how we really could feel at home even while abroad. I can’t make you choose Perugia, but if you’re looking for a community that supports you and helps you experience the REAL Italy, you couldn’t make a better choice!
