Umbra-Perugia Sister City Scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to further strengthen the close and friendly relations between the Umbra Institute, the City of Perugia, and her Sister Cities in the U.S. by making studying abroad in Perugia more affordable for college and university students who are residents of Grand Rapids, Michigan or Seattle, Washington.
Qualifying applicants must be:
- A resident of one of Perugia’s two Sister Cities – Grand Rapids or Seattle, studying at any accredited U.S. college or university nationwide.
- Or any student studying at an accredited college or university in Grand Rapids or Seattle.
The scholarship is offered to current undergraduate college or university students who wish to study abroad at the Umbra Institute in Perugia, for the fall semester, spring semester, or both. The scholarship applies to only one semester per applicant. Applicants must be in good academic standing with their college or university with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and have sophomore or higher status.

Residents of Seattle or Grand Rapids studying at an accredited college or university anywhere in the U.S. have preference. The scholarship is offered on a first come, first serve basis.
The Umbra Institute will offer two (2) partial scholarships annually, one per semester, each worth up to $8,000 off the all-inclusive semester fees in the form of a discount. This award is intended to help cover a portion of the overall costs of studying at the Umbra Institute for a full semester.
