UConn Spring Semester Scholarship
The International Studies Institute in Florence and the University of Connecticut Office of Study Abroad are committed to helping the next generation of graduates achieve their educational goals by assisting them in being able to afford the costs of studying abroad in Italy. To further their mission, the Institute is pleased to offer the Spring Semester Marc and Lois Tartaglia Memorial Scholarship.
Scholarship Provision The scholarship offers a 50% semester program fees subsidy for ONE deserving UConn student studying at ISI in the spring semester.
To apply, students must complete the UConn Study Abroad application to study abroad at ISI Florence for the spring semester. In their application, they must indicate that they wish to be considered for the Tartaglia Memorial Scholarship and follow any additional application procedures indicated by the study abroad staff.
The Director and Assistant Director of the University of Connecticut Study Abroad Office will select the recipient of the scholarship. In selecting the recipient, they will consider the applicant’s academic record and financial needs. It is the goal of the Study Abroad Office to award the scholarships to those deserving students who will most benefit from the financial reward and contribute positively to the Institute’s student body overseas.
ISI and the UConn Study Abroad Office require all recipient(s) to make a personal pledge that in the future, should their means allow, they too will help to provide funds for deserving students to pursue their dream of studying abroad and reciprocate the assistance and generosity they received as a recipient of this award. Also, upon receipt of this scholarship the recipients are required to write an email or letter to the Donor of the scholarship in which they thank him for his generosity and describe their expectations as a participant in this particular study abroad program.
Included in the Program Tuition:
The program fees for both Florence include: Academic program (13-16 credits), airport pick-up in Florence for the ISI Florence program, 2-day orientation program, shared apartment housing and utilities including Wi-Fi service, end-of-semester apartment cleaning, student services assistance, permit of stay forms and fees (permesso di soggiorno), free cell phone rental (optional), 24/7 emergency phone, cultural activities series, Institute facilities use, farewell party, transcript.
Airfare, meals, course travel fees, textbooks, course materials/supplies, personal expenses and independent travel.
