General Studies Academic All-Inclusive Option
The all-inclusive cost is $975.00

In some cases, students need to submit a budget or expense estimates for their semester abroad. Since each course has a course fee which can vary greatly based in the course field trips, activities, textbooks, and/or digital readers, students will not know their total academic costs until after the drop/add period. This can make financial planning difficult. Furthermore, students may not have the funds to change their curriculum and enroll in courses with higher fees, which many times they must pay themselves.

The academic all-inclusive option addresses these concerns by establishing a fixed course fee payment regardless of the courses selected. This way students can submit their co-curricular expense budget and can freely change courses up until the end of drop/add without concern for additional costs. Instead, a fixed, single-fee, all-inclusive option makes budgeting and financing easier.

This option is exclusive to general studies, FSE and MPP students and not available for students in custom programs which have their own fees or students in the Direct Enrollment tracks.

The all-inclusive fee covers:

  • All course fees for mandatory excursions, and activities.
  • All textbook rental and/or digital course readers and other required academic material
  • The Italian permit of stay fee which is required by all semester students ($250.00)

Students must inform the Institute at least two months in advance to participate in this fixed-fee option.

Note: If students require that the permit of stay fee be billed separately for financial aid reasons or do not require a permit of stay (EU citizens and full AACUPI-membership schools*), please contact our enrollment office at [email protected]

The Scholars Program Supplement
The supplement cost is: $1,750.00

This program fee covers the expenses for course IR 497: Independent Research includes research writing and methodology which is a directed study course taught one-on-one by an Umbra faculty member in a curricular area chosen by the student. Please note that course fees are charged separately.

*Students from AACUPI member schools with Barille law status that have provided appropriate documentation to the Umbra Institute are exempt from the permesso di soggiorno (permit of stay) requirement if they plan to be in Italy for less than 150 days. Students from such institutions who enroll at Umbra for an academic year will exceed 150 days and will still require a permit of stay.
