Umbra Institute Spring 2020 COVID-19 Notices
NOTICE TO STUDENTS AND PARENTS
We are aware of the updated US State Department and CDC travel alerts published the evening of February 28th – these are now at level 3.
For concern for students’ safety and well-being, our US university partners and providers decided to suspend all programs in Italy, including those at the Umbra Institute in Perugia. Effective immediately, the Umbra Institute will suspend the on-site semester’s activities and assist all students in preparing for departure, making travel plans and getting home safely.
Although the advisory level was raised, this is not an emergency. But we have been instructed to ensure that all students have left the program by Friday, March 6, 2020.
IMPORTANT: All students are required to submit the WITHDRAWAL INFO FORM immediately so we can confirm your date of departure (if applicable) and and plan for the continuation of your courses remotely.
Any student that have left the program and failed to complete the withdrawal info form by March 13th (classes restart on March 16th), will be considered to have abandoned the program and should contact their home university or provider for further details.
Our goal is to leave no student behind. Umbra staff has reopened the school for the weekend to assist students. The Institute will continue to operate with its usual services (including our 24/7 emergency phone) until every student has completed their arrangements and departed the city. No student will be required to vacate student housing without a plan.
