My name is Hannah, and I did the general studies program at the Umbra Institute in Spring of 2026. I am a student at Clark University double majoring in Psychology and Studio Art. At Umbra I took Ceramics, Photography, Art Therapy, and Beginner Italian. I picked Perugia because of its unique atmosphere; the charming, historic city can feel both cozy and large, and I never ran out of places to explore! The thing I loved most about Umbra was the community and the opportunities I had in my classes to learn about Italy in depth. One of my most memorable experiences was volunteering in the local community doing gardening. I also made videos for Umbra’s social media about what it was like being a student abroad in Perugia! During my stay I did a lot of walking, art, and traveling around Italy. Overall, the experience was unforgettable, and one I’ll take with me for the rest of my life.
