Umbra-Perugia Sister City Scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to further strengthen the close and friendly relations between the Umbra Institute, the City of Perugia, and her Sister Cities in the U.S. by making studying abroad in Perugia more affordable for college and university students who are residents of Grand Rapids, Michigan or Seattle, Washington.
Eligibility
Qualifying applicants must be:
- A resident of one of Perugia’s two Sister Cities – Grand Rapids or Seattle, studying at any accredited U.S. college or university nationwide.
- Or any student studying at an accredited college or university in Grand Rapids or Seattle.
Criteria
The scholarship is offered to current undergraduate college or university students who wish to study abroad at the Umbra Institute in Perugia, for the fall semester, spring semester, or both. The scholarship applies to only one semester per applicant. Applicants must be in good academic standing with their college or university with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and have sophomore or higher status.
Selection
The Umbra Institute will select up to four scholarship recipients at its sole discretion. In selecting any recipient, the Umbra Institute will consider academic and personal qualifications and financial needs. Residents of Seattle or Grand Rapids studying at an accredited college or university anywhere in the U.S. have preference. The scholarship is offered on a first come, first serve basis.
Scholarship Provision
The Umbra Institute will offer up to four (4) scholarships per semester, each worth up to $2,000 off the semester fees in the form of a discount. This award is intended to help cover a portion of the overall costs of studying at the Umbra Institute for a full semester.
Application Procedure and Deadlines
All applicants must complete the online Umbra-Perugia Sister City Scholarship application form and the Umbra Institute’s online application for enrollment, found here. Scholarship recipients will be selected once a qualified candidate applies. Winners will be notified by email. The deadline for program applications is June 15th for the Fall semester and October 15th for the spring semester.
Overall Costs to the Recipient per Semester
The scholarship is a partial scholarship. Recipients are responsible for the remaining fees, flight, meals, and personal expenses and should budget accordingly.
