Umbra Clubs
The Umbra Institute strives to offer a variety of extracurricular activities that help students make the most of their study abroad experience, by utilizing their talents and interests.
Note that our student services team is always available to help students find local activities, beyond available clubs, that matches their interests.
Choir
Want to sing? A professional Italian Maestro, Sergio Briziarelli, will conduct several choral workshops throughout the Spring semester. Each session has a different musical theme and is a great chance to improve your Italian pronunciation and cultural knowledge. Absolutely no musical experience is necessary. Emails will be sent out at the beginning of each semester to provide further information.

Soccer Club
As every Umbra student knows, soccer, or calcio, is Italy’s #2 sport. Considering its popularity and the camaraderie often experienced between fellow athletes, Umbra organizes regular soccer practices throughout the semester that then culminate in a soccer tournament.
During the semester be sure to check your emails for practice dates and times.
Note: It is important to reply to all soccer related emails that request an RSVP, prior to the specified date, so that field reservations may be made appropriately.

Theater Club
Umbra’s theater club is an exciting opportunity for students interested in learning the art of theater, or simply maintaining their theatrical abilities while abroad. No prior experience is required. The club is managed by Shakespearean experts Cristiano ([email protected]) and Giuliano ([email protected]) who uniquely direct the play while allowing participants an outlet for their own interpretation and expression of the story line. Past semesters have even seen theater club performances in the nearby Onaosi Teatro della Sapienza.
