Students Arrivals and Transport to Perugia

Welcome to Italy!
Staff members will meet you at the collection point at Terminal 3 (see email by Arianna from Student Services for details) to greet you and board you on a private bus to Perugia.
Once in Perugia, you will meet other Staff members at the Hotel.
You’ll have resting time before our welcome dinner.

Student Housing
08/30/2025 – 9am-1pm
Meet in the hotel lobby at your assigned time to board a private shuttle to your new apartment. Either an Umbra staff member or your landlord will be waiting at your apartment or arrive shortly afterwards to discuss your apartment’s features.
Check your welcome packet for your meeting time in the Hotel Lobby.

After the group photo, we will walk together to the School Library (Umbra Institute, 2nd floor) for a mandatory orientation session.

Mandatory Orientation – Day 2: Practical Walking Tours

Meet at the fountain in Piazza IV Novembre according to the schedule below. Learn where Umbra Institute is located as well as locations of recommended grocery stores, cafés, restaurants, police station, post office, and other useful places.
Find your group assignment on the front of your orientation packet and meet your tour guides according to schedule:

Permit of Stay Processing STEP 1/2: Documents Processing

(only for students who applied online for a Permit of Stay)
If you applied for a Permit of Stay, stop by the Umbra Library at any time between 3:00 pm and 4:45 pm to finalize the procedure.
Don’t forget to bring copies of your passport info page, visa page , proof of international health insurance coverage, and enrollment letter: our collaborator will use them to prepare your application packet for Immigration.
On Sunday evening, you will be emailed meeting time information for the next morning, so you may complete Step 2 (see event on Monday, September 1st).
Italian Placement Oral Assessment

Meet Prof. Livia Matarazzo in the Italian faculty office (1st floor of the Umbra building). Check your course schedule the welcome packet for your appointment time.

An Umbra staff member will meet you at the Fountain and walk you to the post office to finalize the application process.

Umbra Outdoors: Day at the Beach

Come spend a day at the beach with us!
Our destination is the coastal town of Civitanova Marche (on the Adriatic Sea. approx. 1 hour and half away from Perugia going east!).
With its lively lungomare (seafront) and extensive beaches, it’s an extremely popular destination for Umbrians, who go there by the hundreds each weekend over the summertime.
On this day trip, you will experience a peculiar Italian beach habit, the stabilimento balneare, i.e. the kind of homey beach club where most Italians famously prefer to spend their vacations by the sea.
This activity is designed for a min. of 20 to a max. of 28 participants. First-come, first-served.
Cost: 61 USD (includes: round-trip private transportation, access to a lounge chair and a sun umbrella at the beach club).
Perugia Underground Tour

Want to see Perugia from a different angle? Join us for Perugia underground! You don’t know it yet, but just nearby Umbra you can find precious Etruscan, Roman ruins and much more.
We will go through a true time machine, where experienced guides will guide us through centuries.
Cost: 10€ (includes guided visit with VR visor) – To sign up and pay see the Student Services office, 2nd floor

Join actors and artists from Teatro Stabile dell’Umbria on this unique tour! They will take you back in time and uncover all the hidden corners of the Morlacchi Theather.
